Questions, answered.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. Live speeds are free with no time limit and no sign-up, and so is recording. Tap Start Detecting, and each session is kept on your iPhone, locked, with its vehicle count, typical speed and share over the limit open. To explore the charts before buying, tap Load Demo Data on an empty Incidents or Analytics screen. Pro (Annual at $19.99 a year with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers, or Lifetime at $59.99, in US dollars, and the App Store shows your local price) opens your sessions’ photos, charts and report, and adds video clips, video import, IP cameras, webhooks and Keep in iCloud. Do I need a tripod?

No. A window or a tripod works. Set the phone looking across the road, turned a little to one side, so cars cross the picture rather than drive towards it, and close enough that a passing car fills at least a quarter of the picture’s width. The app learns your view from passing traffic, and entering the phone’s height above the road in Settings › Capture makes speeds more accurate. End-to-end walkthrough: How to run a traffic study.

How accurate is the speed reading?

Speeds come from the camera and on-device AI. A speed is saved once its reading has settled. For more accurate speeds, enter how high the phone sits above the road in Settings › Capture › Camera height. The numbers are your own count of your own street. They are not a certified measurement, and not for legal, insurance or enforcement use.

Does SpeedCam AI upload any video or images?

No. Vehicles are detected on your iPhone, and your recordings are never sent to us. With Pro, Keep in iCloud can store your photos and clips in your own iCloud Drive and sync your records across your devices. The app does send crash reports and performance data, and usage statistics if you allow them. The App Store privacy label and our Privacy Policy list exactly what is collected, and you can turn usage statistics off at any time in Settings › Privacy.

What iPhones are supported?

Any iPhone that runs iOS 26. Vehicle detection runs on the Apple Neural Engine. The on-device AI analyst also needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence.
